Backplate Free CPU Cooler

HI guys first of all glad to say I have just joined you here at Overclockers, I have found some really helpful information in these forums in the past so I thought I might as well join this time.

I am basically looking for a LGA775 cooler for around £20-£25 (compatibility with newer sockets wouldn't warm), I had a look in previous topics but unfortunately installing a backplate is out of question so that limits choice.

So far I found these 3 coolers within requirements:

Cooler Master Hyper TX3 evo
Arctic Freezer 13 PRO
Zalman CNPS7X-LED

Any idea which would be the better performer temperature wise? or perhaps a suggest a better option?

I would gratrely appreciate your help, Thanks in advance.
 
Can I ask the reason why changing the backplate (I hazard a guess there's already a stock one) is out of the question ?
 
also is there a reason why the cpu cooler cannot have a backplate?
most motherboards allow for the fitting of a backplate.
what is your motherboard make and model?

download cpu-z and run it, this will give you the motherboard details you need
it will be under the mainboard tab.
 
Its not an issue with the motherboard but with the case, it has no access to the motherboard's back and disassembling the computer isn't an option as its not mine.

Without trying to sound funny, if I were doing someone an upgrade/build then I'd do it properly, even if that meant taking out the mainboard. It's not exactly a big job to do imo;

Remove graphics card
Unclip all the cables
Undo around 6 screws.

It took about 20-25 mins to change my back-plate including removal and refit of the mainboard even though I could have done it without removing the board
 
I know what you mean, certainly giving me more trouble looking for a decent cooler without a backplate than simply removing the motherboard and doing it properly. Still I am doing this as a courtesy to friend/client during work hours so I cant really stick around much before moving along to another job.

:eek: that thing is a beast need to see if it fits, any idea where I might find it for sale within budget?

Hmm from I have seen most reviews and even Arctic's website put the Arctic Freezer Extreme Rev 2. well bellow the performance levels of the Arctic Freezer 13 series so I guess that's a no go, thanks for the suggestion though well worth checking it :)
 
If the backplate wasn't an issue which cooler in the £20-£25 price range would you go for?

Maybe the Hyper 212 evo?

It might look rubbish but I think its brilliant. my i5 2500k at 4ghz idles at 28c and under load never goes above 55c and its dead quiet.

Plus I got it when OCUK were selling them for £12.99.

It does look terrible :p but from what I could see its quite a good performer temperature wise, noise being its biggest detractor how do you find it during load?
