In all seriousness, I sort of understood more and more as the film went on, as much as there was no explicit explanation. However, I think it was designed to have no explanation.

The mind is a crazy thing that cannot be unpacked easily.

Personally, I think those two things were exactly the point - hence the following of the psychologist with personal struggles, and why the language of the self improvement tape mirrored the language of the scientist speaking to her at the end.

I enjoyed it, I quite like Kane's take on the Backrooms. I hope they make more movies based on the Backrooms, there's so much fan made lore, levels and entities they can play around with, and it doesn't require a big budget.
