Backup and VCB

Hi,

I'm currently looking into the backup solutions we provide to clients - specifically backing up virtual environments. So - what do you guys do, have you any experience using VCB from VMWare or do you backup your virtual machines in a more traditional way?

We've made use of linux scripting to backup VMs to an NFS share with success (ie it actually restored when needed!). You can find resources like this: http://communities.vmware.com/message/1078887

We also run 'regular' backups of the VMs using acronis onto a separate location.

I'd suggest a combination of backup strategies is most likely to get you out of a hole when needed...
