Backup Appliances

Looking to backup a decent chunk of data (50TB) and rather than the usual disk to disk to tape, was wondering if anyone had any experience with products like the Spectra Logic nTier Verde kit?

wow 50tb is more then i have ever seen, i suspect a tape backup with that rotates cant remember what they are called.

Tape would only be month/year end. We already back up 50TB, this is an additional amount from another project.

do you mean 50TB daily/weekly or 50TB plus incremental?

do you mean the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager with something like the TS3310 tape library.

Unitrends is pretty good. Can handle physical / virtual / NAS shares etc. No per-agent licenses either.

yes, many years ago did such a setup with a TS3310 and TSM - which was great as we needed to backup Windows servers and also ISeries mainframe and the beauty of the TS3310 tape library was you could create virtual tape libraries and assign them to various devices.

One thing I loved about TSM was it was all command line, none of this GUI - so was great with backup and maintenance.

mind you not cheap, if I remember correctly the whole setup came to near 100K and this was in 2005
