I have a backup HD for my music collection, are there any utilites that will sync the two drives, ensuring that the destination drive has new and updated files/directories, and deleting any directories on the destination that are no longer present on the source drive?

Source is Synology NAS 4 bay, destination is a hard drive in a hot swap bay in my PC

You probably want a sync app if that's what the aim is, FreeFileSync is free and still getting updates.

Been using FFS to do something similar for years. Plug in my external HDD, press mirror and it mirrors the directories/drives I want exactly, deleting anything that has been deleted from internal drives.

I'm going to suggest bvckup2, that's what I've used in the past (and will be again when I get to it) to sync between desktop and external/nas. Hardly any impact on the system in my experience but it's not free and can costs $30-50 depending on your needs.

It can basically be setup to work without your interaction, even with usb drives which get unplugged (it can recognise when plugged in and does any tasks for that drive etc)

Trial and free to use old beta (worked fine last I tried it - scroll down to near bottom) are available too.
