If i backup everything from C: 'User' this will save everything related to that user including emails, docs, pics etc etc?

You'll get a lot of files backed up that you don't need. IE, Application Data folder, this an get pretty big on some installs.

I'd specifically backup certain folders instead. How do you access your email? Nowadays, I advise everyone to use Gmail for their email. All stored online, so no faff when it comes to changing machine

Its not for me but a friend. He has files everywhere! Desktop, documents, emails (Windows Mail) music, pictures. All over the place but contained under 'User'

I did a backup for him using Synctoy and backed up the 'User' account to an external Hard Drive. Took blooming ages!!

Thing is, he is not very computer literate and to select certain folders to backup would be an almighty pain as he would be calling me all the time.

The way i have done it now, after showing him the clicks needed to run Synctoy, should be the easiest way?

Generally, yes, although I've known some people to make folders in the root of C: so it's worth having a poke about. It doesnt really matter if the user folder is huge. It's just the difference between one brew or two while it copies, the main thing is its easy.
