Restore Macbook from NAS Time Machine?

Hi there,

I have screwed up my Macbook install (because of Google Chrome I think - just a warning to others).

Anyways, I need to do a full restore from my Time Machine backup but it is on an "Unsupported disk" which is just my FreeNAS storage box.

How do I go about doing this?

Thanks.

Hi Conrad, I did some reading up on this today. It is easy to setup using freenas for your backup but when it comes time to use it when it hits the fan its a no go. Still looking for you.

I googled "System Restore from Time Machine on FreeNAS failure". Looks complicated to me. Long time mac user, never heard of terminal.

Good luck Conrad.

I figured it out anyways.

In the AFP settings on FreeNAS you need to set the auto recovery to time machine. Then any apple machine will read it as if its an official Time Machine product so you don't even need to set it up for unsupported drives.
