I currently have a Synology 2 bay NAS and back up to 2 USB drives and a cloud solution. The main weakness with all of this, I believe, is that if we were hit with a cyrptovirus I would be in the proverbial! I saw in this thread that you can set up a share on the NAS and set it to read only and then FTP to it via your backup software. I currently use Cobian Backup 11 to backup to the USB drives and a quick look suggest that it can do FTP also. Could anyone point me in the right direction on how to set up the read only share correctly please? Or alternatively is there an better option for this?

Thanks

I use Veeam Endpoint with a dedicated user account on my Synology for writing the backup file.

No need to ftp.
