Okay, slightly odd one this.

On my machine I have separate partitions for the OS, games and applications. This works out fine as defrags are quicker and my system is more organised generally.

However, should I want or be forced to format my OS, I would like to be able to restore registry entries for software that requires them. Problem is I don't know of a way to find what specific entries each program adds. I could just backup the whole registry, but I think that might cause problems and doesn't allow to me choose what entries to restore.

Ta for any help.

export the whole lot as a reg file

then you'll have it all in one place, can open that with notepad and search through to find program entries..

this isn't the best way of doing it, you'd be better off finding out the location of each programs settings, or try and use programs that have a ini file for settings instead.

which in particular are you looking for?

No specific software, but I know some of it would stop working should I have to reinstall Windows. Was just wondering if there was any easy way to find all the entries added by the software and save it in a .reg file. Then in the event of a reinstall I can run the .reg files of my choice and avoid reinstalling a lot of software.
