Backup/restore software to usb

Hi All,

I'm looking for the best free solution the set my system to backup to a USB pen and keep an incremental backup, if worse case happens and I need to do a complete restore I can simply choose to boot from USB and set it to restore.

Software needs to be free and simple.

What's your opinions guys?

Macrium Reflect, you can create a bootable USB stick and use that.

-edit, not sure if you can do incremental from the bootable environment, but you could certainly use it to take full backups. I use the paid version and it does an incremental each morning to a network drive, from within Windows.

Since Vista, you can take reliable images from within Windows, thanks to Volume Shadow Copy and some other trickery

You can do incrementals/differentials from the usb environment but only with the paid version. (the free version might allow differentials but i haven't used it for a long time now).

The way you do it is to go to restore > load the last image (whether it was a base image or the latest incramental > then click on 'Other activities' and the 'create differential' / ' create incramental' will be shown as well as 'delete'.
