Just wanted to pick some brains over a backup solution. I am after a backup system for the whole family. There is my Dad with about 1TB of photos, me with about 300GB and my Mother with about 100GB.
Currently we all back up to a variety of external hard disks, and myself and my Mother also burn them to DVD. However I am concerned about the DVDs failing over time.My Dad is a laptop on lap user he keeps plugging and unplugging his many disks and bouncing them around so he is concerned.
Is the best solution to go for a RAID NAS device on the network or is there another alternative. Hard drives fail as a fact eventually and multiples are the key hence the DVDs!
