As per my last thread:

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18285554

Ive got an idea of a backup system that i will be implementing, however i dont want to have to run windows server backup etc.... and then manually copy files over do i.

What i need is a suggestion of software suites that will allow me to backup between 3-6 servers which must include 2 DC, AD, Exchange, 2 SQL and a webserver. It would also need to be able to backup 5-10 workstations. This all needs to be backed up over the lan to a synology small business NAS device (namely the Synology - DS1511+ with around 15TB space) i doubt we will hit 2-3TB space but its nice to know its there. I was thinking to simply image every server/workstation and pop the image onto the NAS. Meaning if anything goes **** up i can siomp[ly restore the image and were back online in a small amount of time. Incremental Backups would be a bonus especially if it did say 3 a day, and then the following day deleted the previous 3 once that day was complete. I would also want the ability to set a weekly backup to our offsite NAS device on a 100mbps line (so wont be slow).

So yeh please let me know what you have in mind, also if you could recommend anyhting that you think would be better than the Synology - DS1511+ then please let me know aswell.

Thanks

if the server roles i.e exchange, sql etc... were backup within the image then that would be fine i guess, ive never had to implement anything like this before, so any advice will be good advice for me.

p.s i looked at Backup Exec and it seemed to cost more than our servers and software :S

once again thanks paradigm, can i also take FULL images of servers and workstations, if i needed to revert for any reason?

Many THanks

and will it allow me to save the images and files to a NAS/SAN on the LAN?

so i will or wont be able to backup to the NAS? shall i look into a FC SAN, what about if the host server isnt the exchange server, as some of our tasks are on different servers etc..

Sounds fantastic, will be giving DPM a go this week, might have to get a synology box to test out as we havnt bought any of the new kit yet, but me having my own NAS wont hurt :P.

Thanks a lot
