Was not entirely sure which section to put this in as it covers HDD's and also comes into software solutiuons too. Mods please move to where ever you see it fit to live.

In work we are looking for a solution to a problem. AT present if we have to re-image a hard-drive for equipment we are using, we use the very antiquated Norton Ghost and CD sets. These have the very tempremental nature of binning the re-ghost at certain points and all other great things that CD's are prone too. Cannot move them up to DVD as the machines they go into are only fitted with CD drives and only ever will be.

We are looking for a way of ebing able to clone the full HDD onto a larger drive and then when we have to re-image use the large drive as the source. The images that we copy over are also multi-partitioned too (3 on each drive).

What do peeps think would be the best way to achieve this?

As mentioned, we 1st thought of using a large drive (1TB would be sufficient) and then do a disc clone to that, but with the multi partitions was not sure if that would cause issues as when we have done the 6 drives we need to image then this would get a bit wieldy.

Cheers

We use 500gb/1TB usb drives for imaging and driveimagexml (http://www.runtime.org/driveimage-xml.htm). We were supposed to be going down the network image route but its not materialised.

Cheap and easy clone the whole HD. I also created a custom USB boot with Easy2Boot it is a fantastic program. I now have all my boot disks (Hirens etc), Custom PEBuilder disk, Windows images, Anti virus etc etc etc on a bootable 128gb USB stick.
