Of all the days!!!!

Have a Synology DS108j as a NAS (not that good I know), and backed up all my work last night on it.

Have to to start a restore today of some file only to discover that the drive has got screwed up somehow, either way I can't get access to the drive.

If I take the drive out and plug it into my PC, I can see the drive, it's partitions but can't make any of them available as a letter.

I've also downloaded something called "explore2fs" which I was lead to believe would let me look at drives and contents if they don't use the Windows file system.

Really need to get the files off the harddrive, anyone got any tips on how I can get access to the drive?

Tried a linux live CD? like knoppix etc? Could use it to copy the files onto another partition that you can see from windows or at least have a damn good chance that it'd work.

Thanks for reply :)

Would any Linux Live CD work, or is Knoppix considered a better job (sorry, perhaps not the right forum).

Likewise, would I need to physically install the drive in a PC, or would I be able to access the drive over the network onto the NAS (the NAS has retained it's IP address)?
