Morning all,

I'm in need of some help to get a better backup & workflow setup.

Since 2012 ive been doing photgraphy and accumalted a lot of photos.
my Lightroom folder is onI:(2TB) ideally I want to get photos to the Synology & then upload to (Cloud) and slowly erradicate the external drives to a minumum.

I had win7 and did the free upgrade to win10 - Can I do this again? if i format my C: and start fresh?

At the moment im sitting round 4 external drives & one NAS (Synology - owned this for 2 weeks - 4TB) - will be buying more drives next year. 3x

No idea what or how to do a backup from pc to synology.

These are all in the same room :( bad practice I know. I've been racking my brains out the best method to achive a streamlined backup and then contiune to a workflow for better piece of mind. I've been trying so many (backup programs) I tend to use Syncback Pro for mirroring. ARQ which is very sluggish on windows I did use on Amazon Prime but it sees the backup as data and not photos (5GB of data storage) their unlimited is £55 extra.

C: - Windows 700GB & full of stuff!
I:- 2TB - Main folder for Lightroom & RAW/JPEG.
L: 4TB - A clone of I Drive using Syncback Pro
O: 4TB Drive
E: - Genie Timeline - mirror of my C:

I have a folder in Lightroom for my clients work which I want protected too and not to be shown on the likes of Amazon prime / Google photos

Oh and I'm looking at backing up software my C: / Clone / and for incremental

Macrium ? I have download the home version trail

One thing you get with Synology now is Cloud sync. So you can specify a folder on the NAS and that will sync up to a cloud account, quiet a few are not supported as I understand.

I've taken a look at Sync Cloud, only a few on there I'd concider :( Amazon £55 and Hubic at £75 but it's 10TB and in France instead of amarica

You can install the Amazon Glacier plugin on Synology which is very cheap to use. I have it backing up my music folder (~50GB) once a month (incremental) and it costs about $0.10/month. They have some restrictions on how often you can pull the data for free but if you're just looking to keep data safe and only pull for data recovery then it's a great solution. Be sure to check the pricing out based on how much you'd be uploading/storing however.

Oh cheers guys :) I'll take a look at Glacier too. Half tempted to ditch my Prime and get the unlimited option

Amazon cloud drive is in the US, EU and other locations. Hubic is capped at 10Mb/s.

well having use Macrium refelct yesturday (11 hours 50min) to backup my 700GB C: & crap thats stored on it.

having a huge clean of programs and moving my photos (wip -working in progress) to an external drive and clearing as much as possible.

I'm going to buy an ssd for C: windows & apps i use most.

and make sure I dont store clutter my C: /desktop and move things over.
