I dont think it needs to be locked its a legitimate question, just the same as any question in GD when people are unsure if somethings legal or not. The thread only needs locking if someone tells him how to do it and so far someone hasn't.

Imo on later 360's when the Hdd's get bigger it may even become a legal option to speed up load times or when games get too big for a dvd.

Sorry guy's i was just asking sorry.

How do i close the thread?

You can't and you haven't done anything wrong. You didn't ask how, you asked if its legal. If I asked if it's legal to overtake by passing a solid white line in my car there would be no need for 100 people to RTM.

Lol at the abuse straight away. Ive read up on this before and doesn't seem possible at this stage at least not with any microsoft approved software. But would be a cool idea and mean we could download games. ;)

It would also stop the moaning about the dvd drive at full pelt. If microsoft made it available and legal i would happily buy a drive large enough to store say 20 games on to play as and when silently.

What is the speed of the HDD, transfer speed I mean, is it faster than the DVD drive?

Well it uses the SATA interface, so yes, it will be quicker than the DVD drive.

Definately!

500GB for the win :D

As much as I absolutely hate any form of Microsoft bashing, you do recall how much the 20Gb drives were at release?

£69.99 a rip off but if they became needed due to increasing game size not fitting on a dvd, then maybe it would be cheaper or they would look foolish after saying they didnt need a different disc from the dvd.

Yeah for sure, if they dropped the cost (which I'm sure they would do if they went down this road), it would be a great addition to the consoles features.

Though I must admit, I think it will be a little while before they fill a DVD and require a second disk (ignoring those pesky Japanese games loaded with FMV sequences).

Yeah but ain't there some kind of third party e-sata connector, meaning you could use any kind of hard drive or even larger usb hard drive?

The HDD was expensive because microsoft can charge what ever the hell they wanted since its their console and there is zero competition for it. I did hope you could use any one you wished, but that will never happen since its probably the only part of the 360 that they can profit from :p

It only sits between the HDD and the Xbox 360 and lets you move your demo's, trailers etc to your PC and it doesn't let you add any 3rd party HDD as far as I am aware
