I've got XP and Program Files etc all on one 20GB partition what the best way to backup that partition so in the case of HDD failure I can restore that partition just the way it was on a new drive? Currently I just back up my user data so in event of loss I have to reinstall XP and all my programs etc. It would be nice if I could be back up and running in minutes rather than days though!
I have a 160GB USB-2 drive but what process do I need to follow to make a perfect backup onto this device which would allow me to restore to a new drive inside the machine? As a bonus it would be nice to be able to boot directly from the USB drive and use the backup... is that possible?
Do I need some fancy backup software?
