i found myself asking the question why are cases this way round? or more to the point, why do you have a nice shiny fan on your gfx just to have the ugly side facing up?
is there a case available for me to be able to show off these features?
only thing close are those isotope cases which are huge! and horizontally mounted mb's
i have considered making my own but i got kids to feed!
any suggestions then?

There are several cases that use an upside-down arrangement. The ones that spring to mind are the Lian Li V series, and the A series.

The Lian-li v1000 is 'that' way up....

Theres quite a few cases actually.

This is mine =/ Pants photo but you know

Mine too!

Get to see my lovely GTX's fan... when i remove the side panel of my case!!! :p :D

One obvious reason is to reduce the amount of dust that enters the card. If it's upside down it would have to really hoover hard to draw a decent amount of dust into the cooler. Orientated as mine is, and those mentioned above are, the dust merely needs to pass by and it's sucked in!

Here's mine when i had my old 7950GX2:

Hate to say it....But if you have an intake fan, no matter where your fan is its still going to suck the dust in :)

I agree... but i'm sure it's (a little) harder to suck dust up than suck dust down. ;) :D

Probably :P

Im just thinking of the way dust moves...it doesent really have a specific way in moving...well im presuming, especially when a fan pushes is somewhere.

@ OP: Glad you've noticed some cases! Get looking!

Hey Delvis... is that an HR-03 on your graphics card?

Is that an x1900 you've got it on? Hard to make it out in the pic! :D

How do you find the temps?

Indeed it is that...and that =P

Temps seem fine, and the cards a DAMN hell of a lot quieter. Well it can be silent if you want it to be put it that way.

I'm not 100% how to tell the temp in Ati tray tools...But i believe its at like 43c if im reading the correct page.

Wow that's nice!

Thanks Delvis! :)

Heard really great things - hopefully i'll see an improvement in my 80+ degree C GTX temps!

Thanks again,

Quite alright :)

Yeah, just been running that 3d renderer thing as well for a little while...staying at 54/55c atm.

Basically i think the cooler rocks =/...It can have any 90mm fan on it, and at whatever speed you want it at. Naturally you would need a fan controller for that but you get the idea :)

Glad to help.

Sweet! I'll try an post results on mine when it arrives. Got an SI-128 to fit to my e6600 too (my amanda's just too much cooler for me! ) so i'll do them both at the same time. Trying for silence as i've removed the 680i's stock cooling and replaced it with noctua and enzotech passive coolers.

Nice rig too mate! Love v1000's... look dead classy! Plus you get a windowed side panel too! No such luck for us lowly PC-101 owners! :D
