Hey all,

Got my upgrade up and running tonight (See sigs for new specs)

Obviously, I wanted to check out my 3dmark score... Just done my test using 3dMark06 and I got 11383...

Im not 100% sure - but I didn't think it was very good for the specs I have.

Please note nothing has been overclocked :)

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Marky

Its your cpu holding it back, I guess the e8400 is at stock?

Running my e8500 at 4.2ghz and 8800gt at 700/2000 I get: 6224/5924/3911 (14022)

hey dude you got practically the same specs. as me apart from the fact I've overclocked my E8400. (check sig.) Untill you do that you won't make a killing on that benchmark. A better benchmark would be to run a game. See how you fare in crysis or half life 2 or CS:Source. In the latter I get around 500+ fps and you should get roughly the same even with your CPU at stock. Try overclocking and then run 3D mark again... you should be able to push it much higher... if you have no luck with that then post back and we'll go from there.

Yeah agree withg all the above, at stock on the Q6600 it pulled ~13300, boosting the cpu from 2.4 -> 3.3 has made the score rise to 16500.

I was the same, my Q6600 at stock got me around the 12000 mark. Now running it at 3.42 and managed 17811. Is a pain that 06 is heavily CPU dependant but oh well.

Yep, as soon as you start to overclock your CPU you will see the score jump up. At 1280x1024 3DMark is very CPU dependant.

you can see your cpu bottlenecks the card try to overclock it ;) with all stock i got 12 k with two 3870xt now im on 20100 :)

Okay cool I'll see about overclocking the processor :)
By the way, I've installed GPU-Z, CPU-Z, Rivatuner, and Coretemp.
Rivatuner and coretemp however aren't working because they are complaining of a driver problem of some sort? Anyone know what that's all about?

Rivatuner should work if you let it install the patch file that it comes with (I think?) since all drivers on vista X64 need driver signing otherwise the OS won't let them run unless you mess about with windows. Just make sure it's 2.06 that you're using.
Coretemp is a lost cause though in x64 (again not sure? I've never got it working), try speedfan.

I just had a brainwave... I've installed Catalyst 8.2... will I need some sort of special crossover drivers?

Here is an image of CPU-Z and GPU-Z:

Just thought it may help (Oh and bow to my awesome painting skills :))

Which CPU settings were they exactly?

I presume you didnt change any speed settings for the CPU.
No speeds were changed for the test.
