ok i have the following drives :

2 x raptor 150gb sata in raid 0 (2 intel sata ports)
1 x 320 sata (intel sata port)

1 x 150gb ide (oldy but got data on I need for now)

just bought 2 x seagate 500 gb sata drives.

what I want to do is hook up the 2 seagates on the secondary controller so I can transfer everything onto these.... then will ditch the others.... I think.

theres 4 intel matrix ports (which the first 3 drives are on)

and then 4 more for the marvel controller.

hooking the 2 new seagates onto the marvell controller prevents bootup - any ideas whats up ? - secondary controller finds the drives ....

if I disable the secondary sata controller - all is fine - Ive swapped the drives over from intel to marvell - (apart from the raptors) and they work fine on the intel satas - as soon as I enable the secondary controller and put a drive on it wont boot up - (yep Ive selected the raptors to boot when hooking up the drives)

Any ideas - I know I can put the new ones on the intel satas - but I just need to backup the old drives before (possibly) removing them.

You got all the drivers loaded for the Marvell controller?

The boot order isn't picking up the drive on the Marvell controller instead of the one on the Intel controller?

yeah got all the drivers loaded for the marvell controller.

As soon as secondary controller is turned on in Bios - it just hangs at boot screen (just before Windows logo comes up)

Disable - everything good to go again.

Is it possible to have 2 raid arrays via 2 controllers at the same time ?

I had a similar issue. I was trying to use 2 Sata DVDRW's in the Marvell controller and have the matrixRAID deal with 4 WD AAKS drives.

I had the bios use the Intel raid as the only boot connection and it still hung.

I ended up going back to using the EIDE controller and a single DVDRW and disabled the Marvell.

Might be worth checking your BOIS version as they have released some updates in Oct 07.

thanks.
I think the problem is in the option `Configure SATA as raid` - you have to have both controllers as RAID or IDE.

in the manual it says set it to IDE when connecting to the marvell controller - but then you loose my 2 raptors on the intel raid controller.

will check out the BIOS update
