Should be getting my Bad Axe 2 anyday now and from looking at the drivers section on Intels site the only difference is the original uses SI Raid and version 2 uses Marvel - none of which I use. So would I be ok just putting the board in and booting up and letting XP redetect eveything or is a whole OS reinstall in order (I hope not).

cheers

Its luck, I couldnt boot the OS when I moved from EVGA 680i to the striker extreme even though its the same chipset. MBR errors, I tried fixmbr and bootcfg in the recovery console but no luck.

I've moved from a badaxe to a P5W DH & then to a P5W64 WS on the one installation of Windows with no problems and no changes to the Intel drivers. I think you'll be fine with the Intel chipset. Its always Nvidia chipsets which are really picky about this.

Great stuff. Thanks for the advice. Would hate to have to bring down my steam stuff again, and resinstall all my apps.

Was going 680i with a possible view to another G80 next year. But with the issues on the evga and price of the striker which also sounds like it suffers from a poor vcore, I think I will stick with an Intel board. If anything this has given me great stability, and the bad axe 2 will add better overclocking especially on the quad core which I am waiting to install.

Very funny....you know what I mean....runs hot, crap chipset fan, sata raid performance, errors in event viewer, problems with hz memory, usb keyboard dissapearing, high cpu temps reported, sound issues with sli - fixed but some people reporting poor sli performance, fan speed control not working (a big one for me), fsb holes, problems running cas1 memory, issues with rfi shield not lining up in some cases etc... read the evga forums. Have none of these problems with the bad axe thank you very much. I only see the point of the evga for sli and/or overclocking as you can run the memory in asynch more and it seems to reach a higher fsb then the 975. None of which matters much to me as I have an unlocked cpu.
