Hi all,
I'm wondering why my system doesn't run all games at 1080P and 60HZ
i7 ivybridge 3.5 ghz
8GB 1866Mhz DDR3
980GTX
500GB Sandisk SSD
Win 7 64 bit
All my total war games have struggled with framerate with everything on max (going s far back as Empire). Map mode has worse framerate than battles. Battles on zoomed in close or with numbers over 3000 will cause stuttering.
Battlefield 4 doesn't run smooth on certain levels
Fallout 4 runs very badly in the city areas.
Far Cry 4 isn't smooth in certain areas
In general other games run ok, but as you can see - certain games do struggle and I want a system that runs everything on max.
I used to use a 2560x1600 monitor but I gave up on using it as my 680 struggled and I thought my 980 would chew through games - but it didn't
So my question is - what would help? Would RAM improve these games that struggle?
I checked CPU benchmarks and asides from the Haswell-E chipset my Ivybridge isn't that far behind newer i7's. I don't mind splashing out on a 1080 when it comes out, but the performance increase from my 680 to the 980 has honestly been barely noticeable and it's very frustrating when I spent over £500 on a new GPU in May 2015.
Any help would be appreciated.
Ed
