Hi Guys, I've just got my first gaming computer and I've got Bad company 2.... but I'm having trouble playing online, it just cannot find a game for love nor money. Is anyone aware of any problems with this game online?

If you're using steam then right click on the game, select properties, then local game files, then verify. Run the game in admin mode. Make sure you've updated punkbuster. Make sure you're firewall/security software isn't blocking anything.

Also, populating the server list may take a while so be patient.

It is running through Steam but when I go through the properties it just gives me a screen saying "Shortcut" than gives me an option to choose icon, a target address and a start in option.

Have I paired them incorrectly?

Open Steam and go to your library then right click BC2 there and select properties.

Try this trick if your server browser isnt working;

Click "Play Now",
This will take you to a empty server,
Exit the server,
Try the server browser now.

Always worked for me when I had issues.

I will try the above, but the message I keep getting is 'Failed to connect to EA online, try again later'

Im 100% sure there is nothing on my end causing the issue.

Had same problem as you since you mentioned it a few days back ^^ SUCKS..

You can join servers FYI, like you can join from history or by IP.

You could use something like http://www.game-monitor.com/ to get server IP's while this shizzle is happening.

I've always had a problem finding servers but I've never had a problem joining a friend who's already in-game. Perhaps take a look at the game names site in my sig and add a couple of people from there (best bet would be start at the bottom of the relevant list as they tend to be the most active).

To have the game run as admin you'll need to navigate to the steam folder then go to Steamapps -> Common -> Battlefield Bad Company 2 and right click on BFBC2Game.exe, go to the compatibility tab and select "Run as Admin".

Some people find disabling uPnP on their network can provide benefits as well though mileage with this may vary.

Even after all that this game will still probably be a pain in the arse, or at least it has been in my experience though enjoyable when it works.

Iv tried all that stuff, such as disabling upnp, firewalls, port forwarding etc etc etc...

The point is that it works when my internet equipment is at default (none of these settings), and it also stops working when the equipement is using the same settings also.

It allows me to log in to the game (as in I can put my username and password) login using my gamer tag, I get to the main lobby, but pressing search or history or favourites, brings me a message that 'could not connect to ea online, try again later'

........

Last two weeks like this.

Thats not to say I havent been able to play at all, as 1/10 times it will work after being persistant, but there is something wrong.

Even when it does work, it is searching away..... for ages, then I press cancel and the server browser (sometimes) loads.

Is it my isp, or is it EA Online servers?

Just tried again to get the server browser to load. No joy.

I can login ok, I can browse my stats and the leader board etc... but search for server, history and favorouites all bring the same message 'failed to connect to EA Online, try again'

This is getting boring now. :(

Where do I type ip address in manually?

Is this BT interferance or an EA Issue?
