lately i can not play bf2 online, as every uk server where i normally ping at around 62, is hovering around 400, constantly, 24/7.

Every other service such as http is fine, irc, etc all low ping, getting 70kb/s etc.

but bf2 ping is never less than 300 which means i just get kicked from every server i join straight away. This is ****ing ****, but i dont know why this is happening ?

help!

Might be worth talking with thier tech support, because your general ping seems high (most ADSL landlines are approx 20-30ms, not 50).

Otherwise, have a look into the faster ping software/what it does which I think you can still get from filefront. Changes the way Windows deals with net connections via wired, although the same optimisations can be used for wireless.

This doesnt work well for everyone though.

dunno what IPS your using but ive used ADSL for gaming for 8 years and never had a ping of 20-30 , through out different companies/routers/packages ive ranged from 40 to 70 , usually around the 50'sh mark

obviously 400 is unacceptable and you should phone their support ASAP

I've used Pipex, Entanet, Sky and now Be. I was referring to his speedtest rated ping. 48ms is fairly high on that. Even when I lived in the skids on slow broadband, I had lower pings than that. Ofc ingame pings are higher; but the general server response seems a little poor, for example my current BE average ping if I use speedtest is 28ms.

@OP - might also be worth trying to see if they are throttling you in some way, also check anything you may have installed on your computer when or just before your gaming pings got worse.

Find out the IP of the server your trying to connect to and run a tracert to it. I have had a similar problem for months now(My ISP is SKY) and my problem is related to the packets being routed all the way around America before coming back to France where its supposed to go. I know from years of playing the same game that the packets should go through open transit in London and then Parris.

whats wierd is in the bf2 browser window the game server pings are always around 62 which is normal.

then i log onto it to play and get this (taken just now)

hmm could be punkbuster causing the high ping, have u updated it recently ?

just updated it manually, same ping which is 900 everywhere now, including a full search for ranked servers on vanilla bf2, and then selecting lowest ping one (37). log in and it hovers around 900.

Utorrent, msn, x-fire, nod32 all turned off, no difference.

if i ping the gameserver i get this

make of that what you will but the 90 second ping times out after 2 seconds on all ip's...
