Bad IHS contact?

Hey,

Got my rig in sig running and attempting this burn-in business to lower the volts need for 2.8ghz (currently set at 1.475v in bios, cpu-z reports this as 1.440v) However I have noticed that when running toast, s&m or prime for example my load temp shoots up to ~55c almost instantly. Now I expect it should be a more gradual increase (?) and also when I quit stop the application, it instantly drops back down again to ~35c. I've tried various temp monitoring software, mbm5, speedfan and now smart guardian and they all report the same anomaly. Is it possible that bad IHS contact is causing this, or even bad HSF to IHS contact? (I'm not sure if I used enough as5 when remounting it) or a software issue or does it happen to everyone? :D

Any help greatly appreciated ;)

I'm using a BT.

mine does that too. I just assumed that my board is reading CPU temps and PWMIC temps the wrong way round. My "PWMIC" temps have a gradual increase under load from 41*c to 51*c, yet the "CPU" temp rises from 38*c to 60*c in seconds. I'm on a DFI nF4 Ultra-d by the way.

I know I have bad IHS contact by the fact that my idle temps range between 43*c with my Evo 120 on Low RPM and 41*c on Full RPM. Same temps with my Vapochill Micro. My Venice 3000 temps were at least 10*c lower and that was with 1.6V through it

That might make more sense although I've no idea what PWMIC is. You'd think smart guardian would report correct sensors eh

I think I'll try reseating the HSF first of all and see if that makes any difference. I did think about removing the IHS but it's quite a scary prospect, suppose if I'm careful it shouldnt be a problem. I'll let you know how I get on :)
