bad internet , loosing con etc etc

Ive had this problem now for as long as i can remmber and its doing my tree in.

Provided is virgin internet adsl

router is a netgear

I have the router plugged into the main socket on my house via a 15M extension lead (thinking this could be the problem) basically sometimes i loose connection and the connectivity icon goes orange to say there is a only , other times i just loose conn and it stays green. In both cases it seems to sort the problem if i unplug the router and plug it back in.

Failing that you can leave it for a hour or so and it sorts itself out usually.

It happenes once every 30/45 mins.

Any ideas, would a dodgy filter do this.
 
A bad connection is usually caused by the routers settings not being correct. Have you tried looking in the setup at all? For all new netgear routers you can find the setup at routerlogin.net and the username is admin and the password is password. Have a look there and see if theres anything unusual, or PM me with the details in the settings :)
As for your cabling, i have so much cable coming out of my netgear and the connection is never bad so i doubt that would be it
