Bad luck with Xbox Accessories

Last year I got a play and charge kit, its seem to charge but then only last seconds. I can use it just fine while plugged in.

I also got the media remote, you had to be stood right in front of the console for it to work (I tried with different batteries). I took that back swapped it, the replacement was better but is still quite unresponsive.

My question is, have I just had bad luck or are there quality issues with Official MS accessories?

bad luck I'd say.

Though, with the play and charge Kit, I found these to lose their charge after around 8-10 months of decent use. You'll find that a rechargable battery set will be much better. Get a pack of 4/6 and a wall charge which charges 4 at a time and you'll never need to plug your wireless pad back in, just swap the batterys over :)

I found the play charge kit didn't last long either, a lot easier in the end to get a decent set of rechargeable batteries.

I also found the official one bad.

I've got an orb branded one now. Will see how it goes

Older play and charge kits were ace.
I still have an original one that I use for the PC pad
and use good rechargeable's for the XBOX.

I've got a play and charge kit thats lasted atleast 2 years so far.

In future I would just get one of those USB AA cell kits though and just charge the batteries from the xbox usb port over night

The official rechargeable controller packs are sealed units with a pair of low capacity AA batteries inside, so very expensive for what they are. Pick up some Hybrio's or Eneloop's and a good quality charger instead.
