REMOas mentioned in a previos post the Fairuse policys for the various Web n Walk prices plans are:

W&W (£7.50) gives you 1GB which can be used on browsing on the phone but cannot be used to stream video, use VOIP/IM or use the phone as a modem.
W&W Plus (£12.50) gives you 3GB which can be used on everything but VOIP.
W&W MAX (£22.00) gives you 10GB which has no restrictions.

but as of today a change has been implemented, instead of using a warning system on detecting dissallowed usage, t-mobile has incorperated (sp?) a system which blocks the protocols used for various programs like IM/MSN and VOIP this will mean that the programs will stop working on regular web n walk and to continue using them you will be required to move to a W&W Plus/Max Plan

thought id let u guys know

Is this a change to the terms and conditions then? Doesn't T-Mobile have to inform its customers?

Doesn't really effect me anyway as I only use my Vario II to access web pages and use MS Live Search. MSN was quite cool when I first recieved the handset back in September but now I never use it. Value my battery life too much. :p

I have been using a Paygo SIM in 3g card - just been network throttled down to 384 kbps or so instead of the max of 1.1 mbps.

Also torrenting on it is abysmally slow - whereas with my contract WebNWalk Pro I get full speeds.

At last check two days ago, the MSN was working fine.

Guess I should go get another contract instead of abusing the paygo system (which has a £1 per day cap with 40mb per day FUP).

its not a breach of T&C as if your using the disallowed protocols your breaching the T&C's to begin with, and its not really a change as the actual limits are still the same the difference is the way t-mobile upholds them.

as you mentioned above it will be still working as its not an instant process but it will be happening over the next few days/weeks

If i remember correctly when i signed up over 15 months ago there was no mention of the dis allowment of msn, and ill be quite annoyed if i do lose the use of this

Although as some one mentioned above they are using the system for torrenting which is why i guess they have had to tighten up the rules all round.

Is this due to people mis using it for streaming and torrenting etc?

Also can any one remember what the original contract was as im sure it said im was allowed just not voip ?

I can even remember getting my phone and the guy telling me msn use was fine and would not be taken off unless it was a different contract.

Will do a bit of digging tomorrow - im knee deep in some 'interesting' and rather difficult propostions at the minute, but will see what I can find out for you

Just to clarify. I have not used it for any regular torrenting or anything of the sort.

I once downloaded a 5mb torrent. Thats it. And I had a look at the speed once when Azureus opened by accident.

I hope that others are not using it to torrent, making T-Mobile get stricter with their allowances.

I got got my Vario II back in September and back then the WnW packages were different in price or in T&C. Back then I'm pretty certain MSN was allowed on the basic package.

The 'basic' W&W package was never designed to have MSN allowed, but as I pointed out back then, make the most of it while it lasted. To use MSN your supposed to be on a higher package.

Gavin,
Sorry, Ive been rushed off my feet with propositions and meetings with Marketing today, didnt get a chance to look into it. If you were sold W&W as being compatible with MSN then it would have been mis-sold.
