Bad sound quality on new build

After putting my new pc build together, I've encountered very poor audio quality. I will try describe it best I can.

So every now and then a static pop/crackle will come through my headset, all audio seems flat and not clear at all, If I turn up the volume to the level I had it before with my old parts, the sound crackles and is overall very fuzzy, with a faint but constant hiss.

*Some notes:

I have a Creative SoundBlaster X-FI Pro external Soundcard.

I also have a Jack port extension cable, which does improve the quality when used.

When at the main menu of 1 game in particular, RUST, the games main menu themes quality is unbearably bad, but if I go and listen to it on youtube, the quality is improved a lot.

My friend used TeamViewer to see if he could hear the sounds, but he could not and heard them as they should be.

*Things I have tried:

Different Headset
Reinstalling drivers/checking any errors in Device Manager
Reinstalling Windows/used both Windows 7 and Windows 10
Using the soundcard in both back and front USB ports
Using headset in both back and front jack ports without soundcard
Using PC without GPU
Unplugging all unessential USB devices
Updated Bios
Disabling sound enhancements

I believe it must be hardware related as it seems like something is interfering with the sound.

Is there anything else I could before RMA'ing my mobo?

Thanks.

Have you tried a different headset? Disabled the onboard in the bios while using the external soundcard? Does sound like something is interfering with something but these sort of faults can be hard to pin down.

Sorry, just back from work.

I have tried a different headset, but not disabling onboard audio, I will try that.

It occurs outside of games aswell, but can effect them the most.

*If i plug the my headset straight into the back port with the extension cable, it works fine, until I load a game up, then I get a load buzzing sound from the headset.
