I have recently brought a new rig with an i5 2500k cpu. running it at stock the temps where hitting 70C running prime95. After a few suggestions on the forum i got myself some arctic silver. Its my first time applying the stuff. I followed this guide using the two line method as i have a HDT type cooler.

The temps have gone a fair bit actually but on realtemp but theres one core that is now running at 60C under load the rest are hitting 66/67. Could that be the result of not applying the paste in the correct way?

Cheers

You usually do get a little variation, probably nothing to worry about.

Try something a bit more stressing, linx or burntest.

Thats fine, my core 1,2,4 temps are about 70 and core 3 is 64, but when opening programs or gaming, core 3 gets more stressed than the rest....wierd :p

Yep, ive owned 4 intel quads, theyve all had/have varying temps across the cores. Ive only seen one screenshot of a quad with perfectly even temps on countless forum posts etc.
