Bad time to upgrade?

Hi,

I'm thinking about upgrading from my X800 GTO2 to something with a little more kick, but I'm thinking that right now is probably the worst time to upgrade.

I can probably go for a 7900GS or an X1950 pro, but If I do go for a DX 9 card how soon will it be before I need to upgrade again? And even if I do have the money to go DX 10, I don't see how i'm going to be able to manage a DX 10 card thanks to their insane power usage, I only have a measly 430 watt power supply.

I feel as though I'm kind of in a pickle as to what to do, so am looking for some advice.

Thanks.

Thanks, but i'd still be a bit worried about ordering such an expensive piece of kit on the offchance it won't work.

If I were to buy a more power friendly DX9 card, how long do you think it would be before I'd be forced to upgrade?

What make is the psu and whats the max current on the 12v+ rail/s? If its a name brand one such as antec, tagan, enermax then it would probably run a gts fine but with no overclocking, but that also depends on what else you've got in the case drawing current. To be on the safe side I reckon at least 450-500watts meself, I'm running an overclocked 8800gts with an enermax 480w noisetaker and I've had no probs at all in the system below in me sig.
