Bad time to upgrade?

My 8800GTS seems to have died (garbled characters on post screen, can only load safe mode and theres coloured stripes), so would like to get a new card asap, but with these new GF100 cards around the corner I guess it would be a bit foolish to buy a new card until we see how they perform right? I was thinking of getting a HD 5770 but if Nvidia come out with a better card next week at around £120 it would be a waste. Was wondering tho if the chances are pretty slim for them to do a version at that price since its new technology.

For the sake of a week tho I guess its best to just wait and see or anyone think otherwise?

I cant see an nvidia one at that price for a while yet mate. Its just the high end cards coming out first. So 5770 is still lookin a good option atm unless the 5850 sees a big drop after fermi but even then its may likely gna be 150+
The 4890 is a good card if u dont mind only dx10 tho

The 470 & 480 are due for paper launch this Friday with 1 or 2 in stock week commencing the 5th April. The 470 will easily be double your budget and the 480 closer to triple.

nVidia are planning on doing a midrange of the 4series but its going to take them a lifetime to get there.

Pick-up a 5770 as the prices for these will not be going anywhere for a while and you will not be disappointed.

Hmm ta for the responses. Sounds like I should just grap a 5770 then. I'm not really much into graphics, just want a decent minimum FPS in Source games in dx9, but I guess my CPU is my main bottleneck in my system (C2D e6300 @ 3 gig). Should probably get a new CPU (would have got that instead of a gpu if it hadn't died)
