I'm planning on upgrading my graphics card and was thinking of going the whole hog and upgrading my CPU and motherboard.

I have Ryzen 7 5800X and was thinking of jumping up to the Ryzen 7 9700X, which would require me to upgrade to a AM5 motherboard along with DDR5 RAM.

With prices and stock being what it is, am I better off waiting?

What GPU do you have and what would you get? I suspect it might be better to just do that and see if it's enough.

Buying RAM now is a rip-off as you know. Last I heard was RAM companies saying it'd take a few years to resolve.

That CPU upgrade is decent but not massive, so maybe it's not urgent enough to get ripped off for.

yeah if you are satisfied with the performance right now then best to hold off the upgrade...
...unless your money is burning a hole in your pocket and you're in desperate need to spend it

Look at the price of RAM...it's stupid.

Keep what you have, or upgrade other things, speakers, soundcard, monitor, keyboard, chocolate hobnobs.

only you can decide.

I wanted a new machine for many reasons. The price is what it is.

It’s crap. But only you can decide.

Waiting might be a long wait.

Don't bother with the system unless you want to be ripped off for memory, depending on what GPU you have that might be worth upgrading.
