What are your thoughts on this practice?

I went for this option on the M135I. I done this to avoid unwanted attention. Didn't want people spotting the little M badge and then assuming that I'd be up for a quick head to head.

I also think my car looks better without the various badges.
 
For me, the front and rear manufacturers badge and nothing else. Gives the car a much cleaner look. :)

Any petrolhead will know what it is anyway.

I'm tempted to take mine off, only because the Focus lettering is starting to corrode and the back end looks cleaner without it.
 
I just prefer the cleaner look at the back. A lot of the time, if you're in the know, you can tell what model/spec the car is anyway.

The manufacturer badge stays though.

pretty much this. On nicer cars anyway. not much point removing my Kia's "Rio" "CRDI" and Zapp!" badges :p

also more of a guessing game when you see cars then... wondering.... is it beefy? or just another exec diesel xD *looks for single exhaust and film of dirt/diesel covering the back of the car*
 
I'm not so keen on badge deletion. The only people I know who have deleted their badges have done so because they're embarrassed of the engine size (know someone with an A180 CDI with all the AMG trimmings). In my eyes that kind of compounds the embarrassment as the people who'll care will know.

In your situation where there's certainly nothing to hide I'd definitely have left the badge. I like consistency so seeing 100s of BMWs with lettering on the back and then the odd one without would grate on me (as an owner).
 
I guess I also like wolf in sheep's clothing look... Lurking beneath the radar just waiting for something interesting to fly by.

it's usually just some adhesive gunk stuff or pads holding them on (or could be a hole with some form of split pin?) so imagine it's just getting your hands on some of that stuff and carefully lining it back up.

as for resale... at a guess... no. as you can request it to come badge-less from the manufacturer. so unless you scratched the paint trying to get them off/mounted them back in a special way/left holes where the mounts were :p
 
Never seen the point TBH, my current C350CDI has had such lettering removed from the back of it and are in a little packet with my handbook, although I suspect this was due to the previous owner trying to hide the fact it is a derv, better than leaving just the C350 bit I suppose.
 
I find it pointless, but on some cars it does look "cleaner". After a respray the previous owner of my DC2 didn't put Type R stickers back on... not bothered by it at all and wouldn't be bothered if it had them on either :p

maybe he liked to bait all the barrys out there who assumed it would be a c200 or similar


a c350 is a rather rapid bit of kit when driven in anger and more than enough to surprise a lot of cars.
 
Seen a few DB9s with the 'DB9' on one side rear removed - Must be done because they prefer the looks (I don't) as can't see anyone mistaking it for a DB7 or anything?

Hmm possibly, but it's far from quick I would have thought it would get **** on from a great height against a Barry armed with a modern hot supermini.
 
Never been a fan myself (Quite like the '.:R' logo on my current car lol) but on some cars it really makes the back end look clean.
