Badluck? Do you belive in it. Breaking a Mirror, Walking under a Ladder, Walking on pavement cracks and seeing 1 magpie.

What do you reckon? I've been superstitious but a person I know is upset since they broke a mirror and are pretty much superstitious. Thought I'd ask here on what you lot think.

I know that all supersticions are a load of crap but my entire family are consumed by it, as are a lot of people in Ireland. My grandad always said to me, "Never rely on luck but don't be afraid to use it when you need it. And we'll say nothing of the bad luck for fear of scudding yer innocent wee soul." :D

I like to wish people good luck as well. Some people (read, the English) find the remark rather sinister, as if I know they'll need it. I don't mean it to be, it's just a blessing.

Yea, my parents are pretty sensible - but everytime a cat cross the car - they'll pull over so my dad can pray.

I'm Indian as well - if memory serves me right is that your wife vita? :)

I am to a degree and I hate it. For example, if someone I knew was going on a plane somewhere, but then cancelled it due to something, and I said "Go, or I won't be happy with you!", I'd feel absolutely terrible and worried if they then went on that plane, in case something bad happens. I'm like that all the time. :(

I just think, if I've said something, then something bad will happen. It's weird.

No not my wife, Actress Sonal Chauhan.

It's hard when the person who's broke the mirror is a girl and one of those girls' where she'll get upset then angry about it and is your other half. I've tried talking to her but nothing. :(

It seems like superstition goes hand in hand with creationism, since it implies that humans are a special case that wordly forces revolve around.

If Im having a crap day anyway.. I avoid things like walking under ladders in the hope that my day might not get any worse! :D

Not anymore, I think when you are child you take it in but when nothing happens year after year, we live next to farm fields with loads of trees and see Magpies daily 1 or 2 or 3 or 4

What does it mean when a cat cross the car? Like run infront of it or something?

And is it praying for the cat to be lucky or something?

Just trying to understand as its the first time I ever hear of this!

It's bad luck if a black cat crosses your path, allegedly.

But yea... Why on earth would anyone believe anything like this?

Oh, I thought black cats are good luck.

lol what about if you spill salt or something? Throw it in the air?
