Hello all
Im struggling to figure out what needs replacing in my PC if at all.
Symptoms are that the computer randomly freezes, the only way to get out of it is the pull the power and reboot. The last image is still displayed on the screen and I know this can mean that the gfx or cpu failed. If the monitor of the PC has gone to sleep naturally you can not bring it back my pressing the keyboard or wiggling the mouse you have to pull the power as well. If I am watching a TV show or listening to music the music loops, you know it just makes a god awful noise as the last bit in memory keeps repeating.
Secondly the crashes/freezes are utterly random and leave no diagnostic reports in event viewer. Sometimes the PC will last 2 days sometimes 2 hours and sometimes 10 minutes..... There is no trend or pattern and no program in particular is causing the issue.
I can run prime95 and this does not increase the crash frequency and a HDD test doesnt crash either although it my C: definitly doesnt sound as nice as it used to.
Anyone have any ideas given the symptoms above, mainly that the crash occurs and the sound and video remains present. Im hoping I just need a new HDD as I have been meaning to re-install windows for some time.
Many thanks
