Today on UKTV people there has been a show called bait car. Basiclly the police leave a car somewhere with a high car crime rate and wait for it to be stolen, then remotely shut down the car.

The car also contains GPS tracking and CCTV equipment.

My question is this, it seems like an easy and cheap way to catch and reduce car crime and as the show shows they also witness lots of other crimes whilst at it.

Why is it not done widely over here, I can't think of a negative spect of it. Heck I would do that job.:p

Quite often these shows have cars which are unlocked with the keys in, which wouldn't hold up in court, as it would be an exceptional opportunity.

Yeah or leave them unlocked. Its a shame that these would not hold up in court because they are still stealing the car and so hould be punished.

I do like seeing those Dudes on camera knicking the car then getting busted. All the street talk to there mates bigging it up for 5 minutes then the car dies & old bill appear then you get the Doh! face :p

Thats the best bit. "woo look at me in the car............... doh"
