Do you always get 3 points and a £60 fine for this if the officer gives you a producer?

never asked that did i u idiot. if the cops stop u and u have no mot wot do u get.

Driving without a valid MOT is non-endorsable, so just a fine. However they may be interested in your insurance as well...some policies explicitly require an MOT.

I thought insurance was valid on the basis that the car is roadworthy ie MOT'd. Anyway, caught driving around with no MOT and a visibly bald tyre won't win you any favour with the law and they'll probably be a lot less lenient.

The Insurance company has to honour any third-party claim against his insurance, whether or not his car is roadworthy, however if it isn't/wasn't then they can claim that money back of him.

But that's a civil matter, not 'invalid insurance' which would implies a possible conviction for driving without insurance (IN10)...

It's all down to wording, invalid doesn't have to imply that he will be convicted for driving with no insurance. Could be invalid in the event of a claim after finding his car with bald tyres and on MOT and the insurance company coming around with 'the lads' and a jumbo tub of vaseline to reclaim those costs.

A common mistake; an MOT in no way tells you the road-worthiness of a car other than at the actual time of the test. How would you drive to a pre-booked MOT test if your MOT had expired?
