Been thinking of playing through BG2 again with a few of the mods mentioned in the other thread. Just wondering, how did everyone who's played do their character?

First time through mine was a swashbucker till level 10, then dual classed to a mage.

Second time was a fighter - the one that can't wear armour or use ranged weapons, again dualled to a mage at 10 or so.

Looking do do something a bit different this time around, multiclass ranger / cleric or maybe something dual classed with monk, sorceror maybe.

Thoughts?

I never multiclassed. I figured i had 4 party members to do the other stuff for me.

Swashbuckler was my most impressive, got him to level 23, he's was hardcore.
Cleric was supremely good also, but not as fun.

I've never suceeded in having an Evil party though. maybe i should try that.

My problem was that I always wanted to be able to do everything. Swashbuckler/ mage = fight, dual wield, all the thief stuff bar backstab and then a crap load of spells :)

Looking at at pure skald too, although that's really pretty much the same thing in a different class.

I think I've avoided monks in the past since most of the cool gear you pick up is useless for your main character, since he's best without weapons or armour.

Kensai/Mage is a fun class to play as you can't wear armour as a Kensai which means you can always cast spells :D

Using BGTuTu I played a Monk from lvl1 - do you know hard that is? They're *useless* until about level 8.
At level 15+, they're pretty much invincible though, may aswell just ditch the rest of the party and go solo it all.

My favourite class is a pure Wood Elf Ranger. Arrows of Dispelling = Mage's worst nightmare.

haha so true. Nothing more satisfying though than progressing your little weakling monk through bg1, bg1 expansion, bg2 and throne of bhaal

godlike is an understatement :p
