Baldurs Gate

O man, you cant choose screen reso and worse of all the graphics look so pixelated. i got headache playing for 20 mins lol.

TuTu is excellent, but be aware that many of the classes weren't really 'designed' with such a low level in mind.

For example the Monk, is absolutely totally useless until about level6 (about 2/3rds through the game) when he becomes moderately competant. Its not till towards the end (level 8/9) that the potential shows.

Still an excellent mod though :) Few bugs, but fantastic.

BG1 -> TotSC -> BG2 -> ToB for a monster 400+ hours of possibly still the best RPG ever.

You forget the graphics quickly I find. I'm playing through FF7 atm, and the graphics at first were a shock, but 5 mins later I didn't notice. It became part of its appeal.

The same goes for BG. It's like going back to simpler times for me. Probs gonna buy the massive pack of all 4 games.

Anyone think there maybe a baldursgate thats like nwn2? Never got into the isometric 1st and 2nd BG games. Been waiting to play the xbox version as i really liked that one. But bro sold it so waiting for pc version of BG in 3d now.

I think nothing beats that view for RPG's...particularly party based. My favourite games ever. Bioware are working on a game called 'Dragon Age'...that's going to be 3D.

Oh BTW to the OP...you need BG2 to use TuTu...well worth getting though as it's dirt cheap. Same goes for the expansions, 'Tales of the Sword Coast' and 'The Throne of Bhaal'.

That's so wrong. I don't normally say that to people's opinions, but isometric rpg's are easily the best games ever made. The move to 3d removed all the atmosphere from them. Isometric rpgs have beautiful, carefully produced backdrops, and are really a labour of love, over the shoddy environments of 3d engines.

Give them a chance, you'll learn to love them :)

Baulders gate was one of the best, if not the best, games I ever played. I got it when I was doing my alevels and it took up so much of my time it was untrue. It was just so gripping. I got BG2 when it came out a few years later, but never really got into it, it was just too huge.

Got NWN2 for christmas but haven't gotten into it, I've just started WoW (level 37 paladin), still playing BF2 and just got SC.

Having a job sucks, there just isn't enough time to play all these games!

I dont think I got much sleep when Baldurs gate and BG2 came out, I just had to keep playing them, but will playing them again now spoil the awesome memories. Like He-Man and Transformers, they just don't seem quite so awesome nowadays.

No way, I recently restarted BG2 and I'm loving it all over again!

It's just bristling with stuff to do. Although I remember when I first played it and had completed all the main and sub missions except the final plot line, and was wandering around the city, and there was nothing left to do. I felt really sad and lonely!

The only complaint I had about BG2 was that they removed the countryside maps between cities. I thought they really added atmosphere as you had to actually travel places rather than warp there instantly- it made it feel like you really were forging ahead into the unknown. I know a lot of people didn't like them, but you only had to do them once.

Great, great game though. I can still replay the main menu theme tune in my head- DA DAAAAAAA DA DA! Widdlewiddlewiddelwiddle..... DUM DUM, DUM DE DUM DUM DAAAAAA....... bringe me out in goosebumps!

Yes that's another thing about Baldur's gate...the music. Tremendous.
Talking of sounds...my favourite weapon of all time was from BG2...Lilacor.

Was that the talking sword?

And what was that bloke who kept on coming up to you and talking constantly in that city....noober? Or something.
