Evening.

I'm currently in a temper with my new clippers. The guard system, which seemed like it would work well enough, has left me with very very faint stripes all over my ****ing head, and they're going back tomorrow. You can barely see them and I doubt anyone will notice in the couple of days it takes for my hair to grow a little and cover it, but it's still not up to it. I am not amused!

The comb flexes basically and lets the clippers get closer to my head, which at #1 is a huge pain. Aside from the flawed length adjusting system they were nice, but obviously it's no good if all it can do is scalp me bald.

All the clippers I buy tend to last about a year before clapping out, I do look after them properly.

Basically I don't need:

Stupid round magic ones that don't work
Swivelly heads
Multi-length adjustable comb systems that don't work properly
Gowns
Scissors
Instructional DVDs
Combs
Docking stations
Nose/ear trimmers
Sideburn detailing systems (wtf)

I just want bog standard normal clippers that will last more than a year/20 haircuts before they start pulling all my hair out.

Are the Remington ceramic ones any good? In fact are any of the supposedly self lubricating/sharpening ones?

£25 tops, skint this month, if you please :)

I've got a remmington self lubricating thing, cost around £30. Very comfortable and can reccomend them.

Wahl balding clippers. Grade zero ....lol.

oops didn't see the £20 tops.

Or i think they do a cheaper set....the ''wahl baldfather clippers''......

I was given this for Christmas. My older ones had become blunt so it was pulling hair out rather than cutting it. Can't complain, the action is far cleaner than my old pair. I use it without a guard at all at the closest setting and just do my head and face at the same time.

Philips QT4045 Rechargeable Turbovac Beardtrimmer

Use it for my head too though, keeps the hairs in the little built in storage tray so you can empty it in the loo and not annoy your wife, other than her thinking she's doing hairy-poops.

Boots were doing them near christmas for around £23, annoying as I paid a chunk more for mine a year ago :(

I have some nicky clarke jobbies, sound gay, look gay, work great - cost £25 from superdrug

Same, had a few pairs of wahl ones but they went crap.
Now have Nicky Clarke ones that don't need oiling and have lasted me over a year. Nice n cheap too!

I use a beard trimmer too. Just bought a new one from Boots. Can't remember the name of it though.

Hmm, both of my sets of Babyliss clippers have gone wrong after about a year, even though they're well looked after. Think I might give some Wahls or the ceramic Remingtons a go this time. Cheers, and keep 'em coming :)

I got a set of whal clippers for around £20 from Argos, i'm not sure which model it is but the attachment combs were colour coded if that helps? They're a very good pair.

Remington Ceramic for me as they're cordless, require no oil and stay sharp for a hell of a long time (just replaced my 1st set after 3 years).

I just went and swapped them, got the Remington ceramic ones which did a fine job of fixing the stripes the first ones left me with!

Hopefully a couple of nights growth will take the edge off, it's marginally shorter than I'd like and it's our store opening on Saturday!

Cheers :)
