Epic

I'm not diminishing the human effort required to achieve these things, but if it was our full time employ to become buff and we had x thousand dollars worth of personal training and 'supplements' per month, then I'm sure many people could perform impressive feats like this.

Anyway - Christian Bale is awesome.

Have to agree. If it's your life and you make money by doing this then most people could do it.

Yup, 3 months of just reading a script and working out, people who work for 8 hours a day then have to look after kids and a house its a lot of hard work to get in shape.

But he takes on roles that have the demands to lose weight and that is dedication, consider some of the actors out there.

To a certain extent, but I wouldn't say that's the case with this one so much. He's dedicated to his roles and the 'roleplaying' behind it, so I'd say it's half his personal choice to go to such extremes to fit a character's bill.

It's still pretty impressive in a general sense though when you consider what the human body can take and how rapidly it can change given the right circumstances. Bale was literally anorexic in The Machinist (filmed in 2003), but had changed completely by the time Batman Begins was filmed the following year, not sure how much weight he lost and then gained but it's a lot!

really ? maybe some of you guys on here who are dedicated anyway could do it. but 'most people' ? i dont think most people would have the dedication. most people cant even go on a normal diet for a month never mind one that consists of just an apple and can of tuna per day.

think of all the people who need to lose weight for life saving operations but cant manage it. or all the people whos lifes are going to be shorter but still cant do it.

Yes really. Anyone who is in the position to male the money from it and want to make money in that way could do it.

He gets paid a lot of money and it's his job at the end of the day (he likes to go to extremes for films). It isn't hard and he has trainers around him and whatever supplements and dietitians on hand.

Give me the money he is on and I could do the same.

'Most people' aren't paid vast amounts of money to do it. When people can't manage it even to save their own lives, then possibly those people couldn't manage it.

As said though, Bale's dedication is still impressive.
