Bayern Munich midfielder Michael Ballack has agreed a four-year deal with Chelsea, according to media reports in Germany.

The German public broadcaster ZDF said all that was left was for Ballack, 29, and Chelsea to sign the contract.

"According to information from ZDF, Michael Ballack and the English champions have agreed a four-year contract," claimed the broadcaster.

"The captain of Germany and the London club must only sign the contract now."

There has been no official confirmation from either Chelsea or Bayern.

Ballack, who is out of contract at Bayern this summer, is refusing to sign a new deal with the Bundesliga giants and has admitted to being in "serious negotiations" with the Stamford Bridge club.

They have Essien and Lampard in the middle who are awesome

Since when has Essien been awesome this year? Must admit I watched him at lyon a few times and thought he would be ideal in the prem, I was gutted we didnt sign him, But after a season of watching him you can gladly keep him! As for lamps and makalele they have been top draw all year.

Are you sure? I thought Lampard has been poor since Christmas, particularly considering his previous form

The thing is, Lampard's poor form is still far better than most other players' best form. He sets such incredibly high standards that it's impossible for him to be that good all of the time.

This can only cause trouble imho

all those midfielders means they're not always gonna be playing together and not going to be getting a good rythm going as a midfield. Unless of course jose doesnt rotate as much but then players get unsettled, and you dont want that happening.

Also, franky lampard and ballack are pretty similar, gonna have to sort something out with the formation or tactics if they're gonna be playing in the same starting line up

He won't go anywhere. The only slight possibility of that happening would be Ronnie the other way.

Never happen. You wish :)

Lampards Mrs is from Barcelona is she not?

And Cole nah, hate the little get for some reason

Chelseas "first" team next season will be frightening... especially if they get a top striker... may i say "shevchenko"

maka

lamps ballack.....omfg

doubt chelsea will get shev, but i'm sure chelsea will get some uber striker.

But i think man utd will buy well and chelsea won't have a runaway points total next year.

But who knows, its football and all the superstars may just not do it

From my point of view i hope Man u and Arsenal and a few more other teams challenge us from start to finish.
I would much rather win a close fight than get a runaway success. I like the tension of matches not knowing which way they are going and don't enjoy forgone conclusions at all.
Also Alex has earnt my respect in the way he has stuck at his job and is up for battling Jose. It would have been so easy for him to retire and move on but he has stuck at it and rebuilt a good team possibly great. I respect that and him.
I look forwrd to next season in the hope that nothing will be secure and our challengers are more worthy.

Funny enouth and only those who really know me know this is true but i prefer Chelsea to go a goal down and always have.
A few years ago it seemed if we score first we lose the match where as if our opponents get an early goal we come back to dominate.

But Yes i crapped myself. :p
