im receiving my new Maximus formula board tomorrow and i was wondering whether crucial ballistix ram will run ok with it cos i Know ASUS are picky as hell when it comes to RAM, and also should i get PC 8500 or 6400, what sort of performance boos would i get?

Running 4GB (4 x 1GB) Ballistic 8500 in a P5N-T .... had a few probs at first but latest bios helped and also had to set timings manually as AUTO setting wouldnt detect correct speeds etc.

So the main problem with ASUS boards isnt compatibility but lack of detection of speeds the ram should actually be running at? i have that problem atm, i have 3gb of geil 667 MHz at 4-4-4-12 but on my current board (which is ASUS and doesnt have a bios that you can change stuff in) they are running at 5-5-5-15.

running maximus formula + 4gb ballistix tracer 1066mhz no problems here.... better than my old reapers that was incompatible with the maximus....
