Since I added 2 sticks of ballistix PC4000 to my Abit A8N SLI the pc powers off after around 5 mins.

Thats if I put them in slots 1 and 2 or 3 and 4. 1 stick on its own was did not do this and when i put them into 1 and 3 they seemed to be ok but only tested for 5 mins.

The problem is I have another 2 stick of this ram coming so the likely hood will be that all 4 slots will be full and power off will again happen.

Does anyone have any experience of why this happens?

The sticks were ran at 11 4 4 3 and at both 400mhz and 500mhz yet still powered down. No blue screen either just off goes the PC as if i'd pulled the plug.

furtehr investigations show that if I put two sticks in slot 1 and 3 it doesnt go into dual channel so it looks like dual channel is causing it

is there a fix for this?

This has proven to be some of the worst ram every made at any price. Run memtest, confirm its dead & ask for a refund rather than a swop.

memtest doesnt run in windows (as far as i know) just save it a floppy and run it, or depending on your mobo you might already have it in the BIOS :)

the copies of memtest I found dont run from in windows wheres the windows version at?

Download the ISO and burn it to a cd-r with nero or similar, set bios to boot from cdrom, and away you go.
