Hi All,

I'm going to be putting wooden flooring down once I get my extension done and I'm trying to decide on what flooring to use.

I was pretty set on engineered wood as it offers a lot of benefits and looks far better than laminate, however I know people have started using bamboo.

Has anybody here used bamboo flooring in place of engineered wood?

I used engineered wood in my house, but was tempted by bamboo. I would've been happy to use it, due to cost advantages and it's harder than oak and pretty much all other wooden floors so would wear well, but the other half didnt really like the look of the bamboo compared to oak. If you like the look of bamboo then go for it, can't really think of any reason not to!

the only negative i've heard about the bamboo floor is that it's not great with UFH as that can start to warp it - but then, that was a few years ago I was looking at it, they've probably addressed that issue as it's become more popular...

I went for bamboo. The strand woven is the strong one that gets referenced everywhere.

I went with "Light Coffee" from simply bamboo which gives a nice warm oak like feel. Much cheaper than engineered or solid wood. Joiner fitting the floor was very impressed with the quality and said it was very easy to go down (waxed on all sides), but harder on his blades than normal.

I would recommend it to anyone. Don't have many photos just now but here are some which show a bit of the floor:
