I just downloaded OPM's new (2006 anyway) album, California Poppy, and was really unimpressed with it compared to Menace to Sobriety, their old one. I looked through my music collection at some other bands, and realised the same thing happened with them as well:

Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I am, That's what I'm not, loved it loads; Favourite Worst Nightmare wasn't so good for me, still like it a bit though.

Blink 182 - Enema of the State, Take off your Pants and Jacket, both awesome; Untitled sucked, became too emo.

Fall Out Boy - From Under the Cork Tree, loved it; Infinity on High (just one example) sucked IMO. They have a lot of albums...

Greenday - Dookie was easily their best album, I listened to it over and over; American Idiot had one or two really good songs, but the majority sucked.

Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory was incredible, but Meteora wasn't so good, the tone of their songs just made me depressed tbh. Haven't really heard much of Project Revolution, haven't liked what I've heard at all though.

Lost Prophets - Start Something is one of my most played albums, liked it a lot, but Liberal Transmission wasn't a big hit with me.

I could go on with Muse, Nickelback, Offspring, Prodigy, System of a Down, Three Days Grace, Trapt, ATB, ATC, etc.

What is going on with them? I'm running out of bands I like!

your stuck in the past

new music is erm...new

so the older bands have to change there style to fit in with what else is around at the moment

Yeah, I feel like I should be complaining about kids these days. I'm only 16! :/

Yeah, I liked some of OPM's stuff, still do for quite a few of their songs, Sound System, Fish out of Water for example. A lot of people used to like them but they've kinda disappeared...

Yeah obviously there needs to be some change, but not drastic like with some of these bands, Blink 182 were a happy band but Untitled was emo, plain and simple.
