Just bought a bandit 600 mk1. Just wondering if anyone has fitted the restriction washer to a bike before, and is it worth me paying for a garage to do it?

Thanks

Won't your insurance company want a certificate of installation? In which case you don't have any choice,

Otherwise it depends on the type of kit, some are exhaust whilst some are carbs, unless you know what you're doing they can both throw up problems, but on the other hand if you know what end of a spanner to hold and some basic mechanical skills it's also quite trivial to install/remove them...

Thanks for the input :) Still not sure. I've actually got the kit at home ready. Just a case of fitting it really. Probably going to get a quote from a few garages and then see what it's like. May just don the jump suit and go for it myself. ;)

Do you still have the original cert and someone has taken them out is this why your looking to out them back? My R reg Bandit was restricted from new, they were just big washers between the carbs and the air box, it took the garage about 30 minutes to take them out once I passed.

No, I bought the kit off sheBay and it didnt come with a cert. Didn't think the cert was needed? :S

Correct you don't need one, proof of restriction is NOT a legal requirment.

Neither police nor insurers will regard a cert as proof a motorcycle is restricted, the cert thing is just a con.

If you are ever chased for one then take the bike to a dyno shop and get it rolled. Print out will suffice
