Right, got a new laptop and router today. the router in question is a WRT54GL with Tomato firmware.
basicly, im trying to watch 700-2gb AVI files, mostly DivX or similar on the laptop but everynow and then it will pause for a few seconds. now i dont know what it is, i have a few ideas
- wireless connection being flakey (although full strength signal)
- laptop having problems decoding the files (its a 1.8ghz celeron m + via gfx card) im using ffdshow, could i use something faster?
- my computer (the computer with the files" being slow
- high network traffic (there is quite a bit going on, but nothing that should come anywhere close to 100mbps of the cables
any ideas on how to diagnose this problem?

my computer is running xp, lappy is runing vista home basic
