Hi all hoping you can help me make a couple of choices for my new rig. Its a very confusing world to pop back into occasionaly,
I will mainly be used for gaming and video viewing , I want a system to be able to cope with latest fps.
So what components would you select atm. to give best bang for buck system, over clocking wildish.. perhaps more ..depending, but must be quiet.
I already have peripherals and a case, psu (500W enough?) operating system, and HDD's
So I will need;
CPU- i5 seems goto choice Slight biased pref here tbh, so would prefer Intel
Motherboard
Ram
Graphics card
CPU Cooler - powerful and quiet would be good ofc :) big case but will have to check depth
Was also thinking of a SSD - read some wonderfull things but slightly worried about failure rates.
Budget wise not really sure, defiantly sub £500, £ 400 would be great if doable. But it is flexible to adjust for "best bang for buck " . And ofc will vary if incl of ssd.
Thanks in advance to all , haven't had a decent system in a while now so I'm as excited as a child :)

Oh and ofc if I have forgotten anything please say. TY!

For £500, that gets you an IB i5. The newer Haswell socket will cost slightly more than your budget. All this is provided your case will support an ATX mobo and you have a decent branded 500W Psu. You can always add a cooler and ssd as upgrades when funds permit.

IB.

For Bang for buck i'd be looking at the 7870LE. Being a Tahiti core it can be OC'd to trade blows with a stock 7950.

My buddy Idleman has said everything else worth saying :)

Dam you, forgot that was on offer(this weekend only).:p

I agree with all said above.

Id go with the cheaper Ivybridge rig, its better value.

if you go Ivybridge 1600mhz ram is fine as anything higher doesn't make a difference on ivy chipsets.

The 7870 is a great choice. Like hono said not far off a 7950 when overc locked

Did you miss this bit? :D

It must be a 7870LE being a Tahiti core it's not really a 7870 at all. With them being priced so close to 7850s and the standard 7870 you'd be bonkers not to buy one ;)

Wow... ok thanks guys for all the response , loads there to think about for the moment. Will do some more research and get back to you ,
Thanks again

Go with honosuseri's suggestion, that is an amazing system for the price, mindblowing.

Steer clear of AMD CPUs if you want to max your games, they are behind i3s in terms of gaming power.

Serious bias if your saying an i3 is better for gaming than a 8320, in my opinion anyway.

Especially as more and more games will start making use of more cores and the 8320 OC's well.

It's £85 over for the intel build to include the SSD, fair point.

The AMD build however is what I would consider the best "bang for buck" at this budget.

If you remove the Cooler it is under £500 and includes a decent ssd and a 7950.

Hono's build is good, but the OP has requested a decent aftermarket cooler and that will not come under the strict £500 (without ssd) budget.
